Sapim products will now be available in France through Astérion and JP Racing Bike.

Saturday, December 7, 2013 - 09:45

Sapim has concluded a partnership agreement with Astérion and JP Racing Bike companies for the distribution of its products in France.

Sapim is already present in France through its production subsidiary based in Feurs, in the region of Lyon.  However, so far Sapim has focused on the distribution of its products to its Original Equipment (OE) customers.  Recently, following a recurring and important demand of the French market, Sapim has decided to partner with Astérion and JP Racing Bike for the distribution of its products.  Sapim will continue to keep a close relationship with its "OE" partners while Astérion and JP Racing Bike will take care of the distribution to French retailers and other market players.

The Sapim product range will be available from January 2014.

"We have worked with Astérion and JP Racing Bike for many years and wished to work with them for the distribution of our products in France. Both of these companies have the essential characteristics we are looking for: positioning, competence, professionalism and good geographic coverage, "says Amaury de Cordes, the managing director of Sapim.

Sapim welcomes its new distributor in Switzerland

Wednesday, December 4, 2013 - 09:45

From December on Willimann Bikesport GmbH – WIAN Bike and Parts ( is the official distributor for Sapim spokes and nipples in Switzerland. Located in Aetigkofen (Region Solothurn), this company employs three people.

They have a history working together with Sapim. Their downhill team is riding since years on Sapim spokes and received good results in the past (Swiss cup winner 2012, second place 2011). The decision to take over the distribution was taken easily from both sides. They know Sapim’s products well and stand 100% behind the brand. Sapim knows the company as a sportive and good-in-wheel-building wholesaler with an ambitious focus on the brand.

Sapim would like to thank also Fuchs Movesa for the good relationship and collaboration over the past years. It was a real pleasure having worked with them

Tanja Žakelj wins the UCI MTB World Cup 2013 title.

Sunday, September 15, 2013 - 21:00

Tanja Žakelj wins the UCI MTB World Cup 2013 title.

On the last cross-country race of the UCI MTB World Cup 2013, Tanja Žakelj took the prestigious title of the best rider in the World Cup. It all started with the 4th place in Albstadt, two consecutive victories in Nové Mesto and Val di Sole, podium finishes in Vallnord and Mont-Sainte-Anne and today’s sixth place in Hafjell. Tanja collected 1080 points and won the title with a significant margin.

Today was not an easy race for Tanja on the new course in Hafjell. After the start she rode in eight position and fight hard to get to final sixth. “I waited hard for this moment, the season is now over and for me the dream came true. Race in Norway was really hard, I just didn’t felt that my legs are as strong as they were on other events. After such a long and hard season this is no surprise for me. I still managed to lift the pace during the race and finish just behind podium. I’m very happy for that,” said Tanja after crossing the finish line.

Tanja had a lead of 85 point before this race, so she had her focus on closest rivals: “I knew that Katerina Nash is behind me, and I had my eyes on Maja Wloszczowska all the time, so I didn’t fell under pressure. When I saw that I can’t be on the very top today I focused on the white jersey. On the end I was faster than both of them and took the title!”

This is the first time a rider from Slovenia won the World Cup, but what is also important that Tanja is racing for the Slovenian team!

What's next? Tanja is already thinking about the future: “I will have to sleep over and rally grasp the meaning of the today's success. But I already know that I'm on the good way forward and I'm already looking forward to the next seasons!”

The Sapim team would like to congratulate Tanja for this success and this major achievement.

Press release: Sapim starts a new production site in Hungary

Wednesday, July 24, 2013 - 09:00

Sapim announces that it has started a new production facility in Hungary.

Sapim considers Central Europe as one of the fastest growing regions for the production of quality bicycles and cycling components.  The new production facility is based in Tószeg, a city located 100 km South-East of Budapest.  With this central location, Sapim can benefit from the rapid growth of the region.

Due to the local demand of central Europe, Sapim starts the production of plain gauge spokes in different materials and diameter.

Together with Belgium and France, Hungary is the third country in which Sapim manufactures its products.  Besides these production facilities, Sapim has also sales office in the US and Taiwan and considers other locations to install yet other production units.

Quality has always been utmost important for Sapim.  Therefore, Sapim has been working on this project for many months to ensure the best training for its new staff and that the finest quality process is in place before the production of the first spokes.

Implementing this new production unit, Sapim has benefited from the experience accumulated by its sister company, Ryde, that has been producing quality rims since 2008 and with whom it shares the same premise.

All orders will be handled from Sapim Belgium and can be shipped directly from Hungary to the regional bicycle manufacturers.

“The whole team of Sapim has contributed to make this new production site a real success and ensure that our new colleagues receive not only the best possible training but also are well integrated within the Sapim team.  For us it was important that they learn the culture of Sapim as well as its specificity.” said Amaury de Cordes, the managing director of Sapim.
